Context

Sensorlogic wanted to develop sensing technology around their thermal regulation headcover patent, designed to prevent hypothermia in frigid environments and regulate cranial temperature. We approached the project by identifying a need in search and rescue operations, specifically for saving the lives of offboarded ship crew members in frigid waters. We designed a rescue headcover made of thermal material to contain 80% of the body’s temperature for a longer period of time for a higher chance of survival. We designed a LED visibility beacon and automated coordinate GPS signaling system to increase chance of survival. The design exploration along with the market research enabled Sensorlogic to further solidify their patent filings and reach military and sea operation businesses to explore partnership deals and improve search and rescue processes.
